Habits

The repetition module

A habit is work you repeat rather than finish, so it doesn't live on the planning boards. Instead it prescribes a quantity, a unit, and a period: 2 times per week, 64 oz per day, 10,000 steps per day. The Habits screen shows every habit as a tile, grouped under the areas you've created for this module.

The ring

Each tile carries a completion ring and a caption like "3/8 glasses per day." Daily habits measure against today and reset at midnight in your timezone; weekly habits hold their progress across the week and reset when the week turns. History is kept forever — the ring resets, the record doesn't.

Logging

  • Tap a tile to log. By default a tap adds a preset increment of 1; set the increment to 8 and each tap logs one 8-oz glass.
  • Manual-entry habits (a setting per habit) ask for the amount on tap instead — right for step counts and anything you log in big irregular chunks. Negative amounts correct over-entries.
  • Long-press a tile to open its settings: today's count with +/− adjusters, name, icon, area, frequency, and tap behavior.

Design notes

Habit areas are separate from Actions areas on purpose — your life spheres for repetition rarely match your project groupings, and the modules shouldn't pretend otherwise. And a habit linked to a goal shows up nested under that goal, where its daily grind earns its context.
