Goals & milestones

The direction module

A goal in Achieve is deliberately concrete: it has a name, an icon, a required due date, and its own areas separate from the other modules. "Get healthier" isn't a goal here; "180 lbs by October 31" is.

Milestones

Milestones are dated checkpoints inside a goal — "185 by September 15" on the way to 180. Each has a required due date and a completion checkbox; click a milestone's name or date on the goal page to edit it. Milestones belong to their goal and never float free.

Links: where goals meet work

The heart of the module. A goal links to the projects, habits, and actions that serve it. On the All Goals page, a goal expands to reveal everything linked beneath it — and every linked item is clickable, jumping straight to that project, habit, or task. The question "what am I actually doing about this goal?" always has a visible answer.

Goals on your boards

Two settings (Settings → Preferences) surface goals and milestones at the top of the planning board columns whose period contains their due date — name and date only, above a divider, never mixed in with the task cards. Planning a week while its milestone stares at you from the top of the column is the point.

What goals are not

Goals don't schedule anything, don't compute progress bars, and don't nag. They give direction to the actions and habits that do the work — and when a goal is done, you mark it done, which no algorithm can decide for you.
